Houses |
| When the House system was implimented, there were 4 Houses -
Seng Long, Braddon, Meade and Sheikh Ahmad. The Houses were named
after prominent people who had rendered invaluable services to the school.
They were good friends of the school and assisted whenever they
could. |
Meade House |
| Meade House was named after Mr. J.M. Meade, the Inspector of
Negeri Sembilan Schools in 1928 when the school was opened.
He was a very popular man in the State. He showed keen interest
in School Sports and other activities. |
Seng Long House |
| Towkay Seng Long was a prominent Chinese in Negeri Sembilan.
He was the leader of the Chinese community, and a very popular
man, not only among his own people but also among other races.
He served in most of the committees in the Negeri Sembilan Government.
He was a good friend of the School. The sad thing about him
was that none of his children studied in this school, but his
grandchildren did. He was a very generous and amicable man.
He was interested in sports and took a keen interest in the
activiites of the school. |
Braddon House |
| This House was first known as the Headmaster's House. The House
was named after Dr. Braddon. He was the leader of the European
community. He was in the Government Service but later resigned.
He devoted most of his time to research and wrote the Thesis
on 'Beri-beri' which earned him world recognition. |
Abdul Malek House |
| Abdul Malek House was introduced in 1948 as a result of a large
increase of pupils in the school in recent years. The Headmaster
(Mr. F.L. Shaw) and the staff decided to name the new House
after Inche Abdul Malek who later became known as Dato' Abdul
Malek. He was the first Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, later
Governor of Malacca. When Abdul Malek House was introduced,
Inche' Puteh bin Haji Tahir was appointed the first House-master,
with Mr. Somasundram and Inche' Mustapha bin Yassin as his assistants. |
Sheikh Ahmad House |
| Sheikh Ahmad House was named after Tuan Sheikh Ahmad who
lived in Seremban and is interested in the school, as much as
he was before. He takes a keen interest in the school's affairs
and was a member of most of the school societies. He donated
the Tuan Sheikh Ahmad Trophy for the Negeri Sembilan Schools'
Under 15 Football Competition. Tuan Sheikh Ahmad has received
many public hounours in recent years. (Note: Tuan Sheikh Ahmad
passed away on 7 October 1965 at the age of 74) |
