History of OGA

The first Old Boys' Association was called the Old Georgians Association (OGA). However, it was re-registered in 1967 because of inactive. In 1950, Ex-Georgians and others donated Shields and a Cup to get Ex-Georgians to interact with the present students and other OBAs.Peh Kim Hee donated a Challenge Shield for games between the past and the present students of the school. The Lee Tee Siong Shield was for the inter-school Old Boys' Relay (220 x 4) and the Lim Kee Siong Cup was for the soccer competition between the old bys of the various schools. Articles on the OGA activities were previously published in the Georgian School Magazines butsadly this column disappeared after the 1952 School Magazine. The OGA was finally de-registered in 1967.

In 1971 Lim Leng Lee (HM) gathered a few ex-Georgians together and asked them to revive the Old Boys' Association. It took the name of Past Georgians Association (PGA). A nationwide membership drive was launched in 1972 and a Dinner & Dance was held at the Seremban Town Hall, he same year. The PGA held a few more activities but in the early 1980's was also de-registered.

In 1984, Mohd Zain (HM) revived the Old Boys' Association with the help of a few Ex-Georgians. It took the name of Persatuan Bekas Penuntut SMKKGV Seremban. In 1990, the Association was entrusted with the balance of the Georgian Welfare Fund (GWF). This fund is to help needy students. Each year,GWF would pay out the students' applications after the forms were first endorsed by their class teachers and later by the School Headmaster. The OGA Committee members have the final say on the amount distributed.

In the first few years quite a few Ex-Georgians joined but later it started to stagnate and was going to be de-registered. No activities besides Annual General Meetings and Committee Meetings were held and the membership remained at 375 members with only 28 Life Members. In May 2000, Samsudin Hamidan, the Principal of KGV, offered the Association an opportunity to help the School by being the Sponsor of the 2000 Music and Drama Night.

The Committee members took up the challenge and managed to sell 98 tickets. Further activities were organised and in the past two years the membership has grown to 600 of which 190 are life members. Mohd Fadzil donated a Challenge Shield in 2001 for Golf called the Perdana Shield and 4 OBAs - Anderson School Ipoh, Clifford School Kuala Kangsar, Victoria Institution Kuala Lumpur and KGV take part in this annual quadrangular golf competition. OGA will be hosting this competition in 2004. The 2003 Reunion Dinner was held on the 26th of April 2003 at Hilton Seremban.
